Your role as Lead, Quality Assurance
The Lead, Quality Assurance is the quality owner for a dedicated team that translates requirements from a large partner into capabilities built directly into the Dialogue platform. The guiding principle is one codebase: every feature driven by this partnership, whether it touches the embedded mobile experience, member eligibility flows, backend APIs, or web interfaces, ships as part of Dialogue's core product so it can be maintained, extended, and offered to all current and future clients. You have a role as the main QA authority on a multidisciplinary team including crafts such as backend developer (Python/FastAPI), front-end developer (React Native), full-stack developer, data developer, designer, project manager and product manager.
This role blends hands-on testing with coordination of external QA resources. You will personally execute regression, sanity, and exploratory testing across the full integration surface, login flows, healthcare journeys, pharmacy experiences, video calls, push notifications, and localization. At the same time, you will manage an external contracting firm of QA testers: defining test plans, assigning work, reviewing results, and coordinating communications between the internal development team, the partner's technical teams, and the external testers. You are the bridge that ensures quality before every release.
What you'll be doing
-
You will own quality assurance across the full integration lifecycle, from feature development through release validation and production monitoring. Day-to-day you will:
-
Manage an external QA contracting firm and coordinate with the partner. Define test plans, assign work, review results, and ensure external testers have the access and context they need. Serve as the communication bridge between the internal team, the partner's QA engineers, and the external firm, aligning on scope, timelines, and defect priorities.
-
Track and report testing progress. Maintain structured test checklists with pass/fail/blocked counts per platform. Provide daily status reports to the team and partner, summarizing defects filed, areas covered, and overall release readiness.
-
Workload will vary over time. Depending on workload, either train others to test or test yourself the full embedded experience hands-on. Execute regression, sanity, and exploratory testing on iOS and Android. For high-risk features, design targeted test scenarios covering edge cases and multiple entry points.
-
Triage defects and manage the defect lifecycle. Isolate whether issues originate in the React Native app, the native bridge, the backend, or the partner's host app. File actionable bug reports with severity (P1-P5), communicate with the team, and track tickets through remediation and re-verification.
-
Monitor environment stability. Validate that staging and test environments are functional before testing begins. When issues block testing, escalate promptly with clear reproduction details so work can resume quickly.
-
Validate builds and advise on release readiness. Perform end-to-end validation on beta builds (TestFlight, sideloading) before they reach the partner. Make risk-based recommendations on whether full regression or a targeted stability check is sufficient.
-
Own test accounts, test data, and accessibility. Provision and maintain isolated test accounts across environments. Conduct compliance testing, produce documentation, and file accessibility defects.
-
Contribute to test automation over time. Identify high-value candidates for automation as the integration matures. The team is adopting Cypress for web and exploring mobile frameworks, but the primary expectation is thorough manual testing and QA leadership.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
-
Have 5+ years in software QA, including at least 2 years coordinating QA efforts
-
Are a strong hands-on tester with experience on iOS and Android, ideally including embedded patterns where an app is packaged inside a host app.
-
Have managed external QA firms or vendors, defining test plans, assigning work, reviewing deliverables, and maintaining communication across organizational boundaries.
-
Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, developers, DevSecOps, product managers, partner teams, and external testers.
-
Have experience with defect management tools (JIRA) and are comfortable with API testing concepts.
-
Experience with test automation (Cypress, Appium, Detox), accessibility testing (WCAG/VPAT), CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI), feature flags (LaunchDarkly), and OAuth 2.0 flows is an asset.
-
Ability to triage defects across a complex integration boundary (React Native, native bridge, backend APIs, partner host app) and route them effectively is a strong asset
-
Comfortable switching between strategic QA leadership and hands-on testing as this role will require both in equal measure.
Please note that as we serve customers across Canada, bilingualism is an asset for this position. You may be required to communicate in French and English.
