Join our team as a Sanitation Technician, where you’ll help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation across our production facility.

This role will report to the Sanitation Supervisor and will be based at our Nisku, AB facility. The standard work week consists of four (4) 10-hour shifts, with flexibility to work weekends, overtime, shutdowns, and additional shift coverage as operationally required.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to, the following.
Equipment & Facility Cleaning
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, conveyors, processing lines, walls, floors, drains, ceilings, docks/bay areas, and facility structures in accordance with sanitation procedures and schedules.
- Perform routine, periodic, and deep-cleaning activities as assigned through the Sanitation Program and sanitation schedules.
- Remove debris, standing water, potato residue, buildup, and waste from production and non-production areas.
- Clean and maintain sanitation tools, pressure washers, floor scrubbers, hoses, foaming equipment, and other sanitation equipment after use.
- Complete cleaning tasks thoroughly, safely, and within established timelines to support production startup requirements.
- Follow daily work assignments and task direction provided by the Sanitation Lead or Supervisor.
- Complete sanitation checklists, cleaning records, and required documentation accurately and on time.
- Participate in sanitation activities related to equipment maintenance, shutdowns, installations, and special cleaning projects as assigned.
Health & Safety
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, safe work practices, PPE requirements, and sanitation safety procedures at all times.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety requirements when cleaning or working around equipment.
- Safely operate forklifts, floor scrubbers, pressure washers, pallet jacks, lifts, and other powered equipment as trained and authorized.
- Report safety hazards, spills, damaged equipment, near misses, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas to support a safe working environment.
Food Safety, Sanitation Procedures & Compliance
- Perform sanitation activities in accordance with GMP requirements, sanitation procedures, HACCP principles, and food safety standards.
- Follow established cleaning procedures to maintain sanitary production conditions and reduce contamination risks.
- Handle, mix, dilute, store, and use sanitation chemicals safely in accordance with WHMIS requirements and sanitation procedures.
- Follow colour-coding, chemical segregation, and sanitation tool control practices as required.
- Complete corrective cleaning tasks as assigned.
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate sanitation concerns, incomplete tasks, equipment issues, or supply shortages to the Sanitation Lead or Supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Operations teams to support sanitation and operational requirements.
- Support smooth shift transitions through effective communication with incoming team members.
- Support overtime, weekend work, shutdown sanitation, and shift coverage requirements as operationally required.
Desired Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of sanitation, industrial cleaning, labour, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Food manufacturing or food processing experience is considered an asset.
- Experience working with sanitation chemicals, cleaning equipment, GMPs, and food safety standards is preferred.
- Previous experience operating forklifts or powered industrial equipment.
- WHMIS, GMP, or Food Safety certifications are considered an asset.

Work Conditions:
This is a plant-based role and will be required to abide by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Personal Protective Equipment based on the job requirements where required. The successful candidate may be required to frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Exertion of physical strength to push, pull, move and lift objects up to 50 pounds from one level to another at varying heights.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be subject to cold, mud, dirty, dust, odors, noise, and hazards, such as closeness to moving mechanical parts and exposure to powered machinery.
Language Skills:
This role must be able to clearly and effectively communicate with employees and management.
Proficiency in English is required.
