What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with shippers and carriers to facilitate smooth freight operations
- Negotiate pricing and terms with carriers to ensure competitive rates while maximizing profitability
- Utilize transportation management systems to track shipments, manage inventory levels, and streamline logistics processes
- Collaborate with warehouse management teams to coordinate shipping and receiving activities
- Analyze data to identify trends in demand planning and optimize transportation routes
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in freight movement and inventory management
- Oversee the dispatching of shipments, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to customer requirements
- Manage documentation related to shipping, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs paperwork
Basic qualifications
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics and freight brokerage operations
- Excellent communication skills for effective negotiation and relationship-building
- Proficiency in data analysis skills to drive decision-making processes
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems and warehouse management systems (WMS) - Cargo Wise experience an asset
- Familiarity with transportation planning, category management, and materials handling practices
- Knowledge of 3PL (third-party logistics) operations and e-commerce fulfillment strategies
- Experience with International Imports / Exports
