Position overview
We’re excited to invite applications for part-time Rink Attendants! In this hands-on, team-oriented role, you’ll help keep our recreation facilities running at their best by supporting ice maintenance, cleaning, and overall facility care across the City of Guelph.
As a key part of the team, you’ll play an important role in creating safe, welcoming, and enjoyable spaces where our community can come together. Whether you’re assisting with day-to-day operations or helping ensure a great experience for visitors, your work will make a meaningful impact.

Key duties and responsibilities

Greet members of the public in a warm, welcoming, and friendly manner, consistently demonstrating a positive and professional attitude.

Assist with ice maintenance (e.g., shoveling, moving nets, etc.) and operate associated equipment as required.

Proactively patrol the facility to identify maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or improper operations, ensuring a safe environment for all patrons at all times.

Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties throughout each shift (e.g., sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying garbage containers, cleaning washrooms and dressing rooms, snow shoveling, and setting up or taking down specific rental requirements).

Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and adhere to all City of Guelph and facility service standards and policies.

Contribute with enthusiasm and professionalism as an active member of the Culture and Recreation team.

Follow direction and work within the guidelines provided by the supervisor or assigned supervisory staff at all times.

Support overall operations by performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
-
Customer service experience and/or relevant training is an asset.
-
Experience using hand operated tools and cleaning equipment is an asset.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to support the public and other staff.

Excellent communication skills.
-
Ability to perform the physical requirement of the position which would include standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling.
-
Possession of valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certification, required within 6 months of hire.

Ability to understand policies and procedures as they relate to the work being performed.

A satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check.
Hours of work
Up to 23 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
