Job description
SRE & Production Engineer
Montreal | Hybrid 3 days/week
The Role
You're joining the Reliability & Production Engineering team — a global team responsible for production stability, observability, and automation across business units. The work splits between keeping systems running and building the tooling that makes that easier over time.
What You'll Do
Partner with engineering and development teams to design, build, and maintain production systems across the full technology stack (hardware, software, application, network).
Own production support within the RPE team, including rotational follow-the-sun coverage with global and regional colleagues.
Build and improve automation for deployment, service management, and operational visibility — with a clear focus on reducing repetitive work.
Proactively identify reliability risks and drive them to resolution before they become incidents.
Develop monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling to hit concrete reliability and supportability targets.
Represent the RPE organization in design reviews and operational readiness exercises for new and existing services.
Produce metrics, trend analysis, and reporting to communicate system health and improvement progress.
What You Bring
7 to 15 years of experience in a production engineering, SRE, or systems reliability role.
Strong Linux proficiency — you're comfortable operating entirely from the command line.
Solid database experience: stored procedures, compound SQL, and data analysis in one or more of PostgreSQL, DB2, Snowflake, or MongoDB. DB performance tuning is part of your toolkit.
Working knowledge of Python and/or Shell scripting for automation and tooling.
Strong troubleshooting skills: you know how to track trends, isolate root causes, and turn raw data into actionable metrics.
Clear written and verbal communication — you'll be working with global teams and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
Experience in financial services or investment banking environments.
Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools: Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Elasticsearch.
Familiarity with development tooling: Git/GitHub, Jenkins.
Agile, DevOps, or SRE mindset and experience with related tooling.
Exposure to cloud technologies.
Good to Know
Day 1 onboarding is on-site. Ongoing presence is 3 days per week in the Montreal office.
This role includes rotational weekend support shifts — this is a firm requirement, not a possibility.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
English proficiency is required due to participation in meetings, conferences, training sessions, and projects conducted in English.
