Harbinger has partnered with a large and Well known Insurance Agency. They are seeking an experienced and client-focused Commercial Account Manager specializing in Construction and Surety to join our growing team. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of construction clients, providing exceptional service, supporting business development initiatives, and coordinating all aspects of commercial insurance and surety bonding programs.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, insurers, and surety markets while ensuring timely and accurate policy administration, renewals, and risk management solutions.
This role is located at Head office in Hamilton Ontario. This is an onsite role in office.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Relationship Management
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of commercial construction and surety clients.
- Develop strong relationships with clients by understanding their operations, risks, and business objectives.
- Provide ongoing advice and support regarding insurance coverage, risk management, and bonding requirements.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and resolve coverage or service-related issues.
Insurance & Surety Administration
- Coordinate policy renewals, endorsements, certificates of insurance, and coverage reviews.
- Prepare insurance submissions and marketing packages for insurers and surety providers.
- Review quotations, policy wordings, and bonding agreements to ensure appropriate coverage.
- Manage contract reviews, insurance requirements, and bonding obligations for construction projects.
- Assist clients with bid bonds, performance bonds, labour and material payment bonds, maintenance bonds, and other surety requirements.
Market Relations
- Maintain strong working relationships with insurance carriers and surety companies.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing to secure competitive solutions for clients.
- Stay informed on market trends, underwriting requirements, and industry developments within the construction sector.
Business Development
- Support producers and account executives in identifying growth opportunities within existing accounts.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and renewal strategy discussions.
- Cross-sell additional insurance products and risk management services where appropriate.
Claims & Risk Management Support
- Assist clients through the claims process and advocate on their behalf with insurers.
- Conduct coverage reviews and identify potential gaps or exposures.
- Provide recommendations to improve risk management practices and support successful bonding programs.
Qualifications Required
- 3+ years of commercial insurance experience with a focus on construction and/or surety.
- Strong understanding of commercial property, liability, automobile, builders' risk, wrap-up liability, and surety bonding products.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and client service skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with brokerage management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
- RIBO License (or provincial equivalent).
- CAIB, CIP, CRM, or other industry designations.
- Experience working with construction contractors, developers, infrastructure, or project-based organizations.
- Knowledge of contract review and construction risk management practices.
