Position Summary
Safely produce stamped parts by operating and monitoring presses, performing quality checks, and following standardized work. Team Members begin with part catching and inspection, with opportunities to advance into press operation and setup roles as skills develop, while supporting safety, quality, and production targets.
Work Schedule & Overtime
This position requires flexibility in work hours. Overtime is expected as part of the role and is scheduled based on customer demand and production requirements. Candidates must be willing and able to work extended hours, including occasional weekends, to support business needs.
Overtime Compensation
- Overtime premium is paid at 1.5x base rate of pay after 38.33 hours
- Double time premium is paid at 2x base rate of pay after 46 hours
Schedule Opportunities
- Rotating Shifts - Two weeks of day shift / two weeks of afternoon shift / repeat
- Straight midnight shift
Key Responsibilities:
Team Members in this role will begin in a Catching position, where they learn core processes such as part handling, quality checks, and safety standards. As they gain experience and develop their skills, they will have the opportunity to progress into more advanced roles, including Press Operator, Crane Operator, and setup support, taking on increased responsibility in production, equipment operation, and process improvement within the stamping team.
Catching (entry level position)
- Catch and handle parts at the end of blanking and transfer presses
- Perform visual quality checks and identify and report defects, abnormalities, or safety concerns
- Follow work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures at all times
- Package finished parts and coordinate material movement
- Isolate non-conforming product as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S)
Press Operator (Progression into this role based on skill and training)
- Operate blanking or transfer presses safely and efficiently to meet production targets
- Perform press start-up checks to ensure equipment is safe and ready for operation
- Monitor press performance during operation
- Ensure parts are produced to quality standards (PQC, OIC, SWC) and within tolerances
- Perform and document regular quality checks and inspections
- Identify and respond to process abnormalities, stoppages, or defects
- Troubleshoot minor issues and make process adjustments within training limits
- Accurately complete production reports and downtime tracking
- Communicate with Team Members catching parts to ensure smooth workflow
- Support and guide Stamping Team Members working at the end of the press
Setup & Adjustment Support (Progression into this role based on skill and training)
- Assist with or perform die changeovers and press setups (based on training level)
- Verify setup accuracy through first-off part checks and approvals
- Ensure correct materials, labels, and packaging are used for each job
Crane Operator (Progression into this role based on skill and training)
- Complete equipment checks and report issues
- Safely operate crane to move dies, coils, and tooling
- Follow standard work and production schedules
- Maintain 5S and complete TPM tasks
- Report safety concerns and incidents
- Support training and monitor safe work practices
- Follow safety, environmental, and emergency procedures
Other Requirements
- This role requires reliable attendance for scheduled shifts.
- This role will be exposed to noise, moving equipment, and industrial processes typical of a manufacturing facility.
- This role includes repetitive lifting, moving materials, and working on your feet for most of the shift.
- This role requires wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety rules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous manufacturing or stamping experience is an asset, but not required
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
