Position Overview:
Summary
Developing, running and/or modifying programs to measure manufactured parts, components, checking fixtures and other objects as requested, using the software PC DMIS. Mechanical inspections, first article inspections, in-process inspections, and visual inspections of parts are also functions of the position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Create new CMM programs using software PCDMIS.
· Operate CMM machine with established programs to inspect parts or products at various production stages, e.g. receiving, fabrication, machining, or assembly.
· Perform visual inspection and dimensional inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gauges or other precision tools.
· Responsible for Frist Articile Inspection (FAI) and recommendation of process improvement to achieve customer approval.
· Provide metrology support to production or engineering teams as required.
· Follow ABS established safety practices and guidelines.
Job Specifications / Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating CMMs and performing inspection in a manufacturing environment. Experience with heavy fabrication and/or machining products an asset.
- Strong GD&T and blueprint reading skills.
- Established dimensional inspection skills with ability to proficiently use precision inspection tools or equipment. Experience with large inspection tools over 24” an asset.
- Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Able to work overtime and shift work
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
