Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist (Supervising Clinician) will provide clinical oversight and leadership for occupational therapy services, ensuring the effective development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized therapy programs. This role involves supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants, collaborating with educational teams, consulting with families, and supporting the delivery of meaningful occupational therapy interventions across clinic, home, and school environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring quality care, maintaining professional standards, and supporting the growth and development of the occupational therapy team.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Supervision & Team Leadership
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and guidance to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) and support staff.
- Review, guide, and monitor implementation of occupational therapy programs to ensure fidelity and effectiveness.
- Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Ensure therapy services are delivered in accordance with professional standards, ethical guidelines, and best practices.
- Support onboarding and training of new occupational therapy team members.
Occupational Therapy Programming & Service Delivery
- Complete occupational therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs.
- Design evidence-based therapy programs targeting areas such as fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, executive functioning, visual-motor skills, play skills, independence, and activities of daily living.
- Develop goals, intervention strategies, and progress monitoring systems for clients.
- Review client progress and modify programming as needed to support optimal outcomes.
- Provide consultation and recommendations to families, educators, and other professionals.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with Behaviour Analysts, and Speech-Language Pathologists to provide coordinated, child-centered care.
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and program development discussions.
- Promote consistent communication among families, therapy providers, and community partners.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred.
- Experience working with children and youth with autism, developmental disabilities, and/or complex needs.
- Experience supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants or therapy support staff is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy assessment and intervention approaches.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
