How you’ll make an impact
As a Senior Data Developer on the Allowance for Credit Loss (ACL) team, you’ll contribute to developing and supporting high‑quality financial reporting capabilities that enable business insights and operational excellence. You’ll work hands‑on with complex data pipelines, business logic and cloud‑based solutions that directly support FCC’s credit loss calculations.
In this role, you’ll bring strong technical leadership and a deep data mindset – ensuring reliable month‑end execution, high data quality and diagnosis of production issues. You’ll collaborate closely with product analysts, developers, architects and business partners in a supportive Agile environment, while mentoring others and helping set engineering standards for the team.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop and maintain high‑quality, scalable data solutions supporting the ACL process
- Build and enhance data pipelines and transformations in a cloud‑native environment (primarily AWS)
- Apply strong data quality controls, validation and monitoring to support audit and governance requirements
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root‑cause analysis and resolution
- Contribute to and lead technical design discussions for new features and enhancements
- Support month‑end and year‑end processing, ensuring reliability and performance of ACL data preparation
- Collaborate closely with Product Analysts to translate business and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions
- Mentor and coach other developers, contributing to code reviews and continuous improvement of engineering practices
- Recommend and implement improvements using iterative, Agile approaches
What you’ll bring to the team
Required qualifications:
- Degree in computer science, engineering, data science or a related field
- Minimum of six years of related software development experience, including hands-on experience designing, developing, testing and deploying complex technical solutions in a chosen technology stack, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Significant experience as a senior‑level developer working with complex data‑driven systems
- Strong experience building and supporting data solutions in AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Strong technical skills in SQL, Python and data transformation techniques for large, complex datasets
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control and modern DevOps practices
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and ownership mindset
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience supporting financial, risk or regulatory reporting processes (for example, IFRS 9, credit risk or capital reporting)
- Familiarity with data modelling, data validation frameworks and monitoring strategies
- Experience working in Agile product teams and collaborating across technical and business roles
