As an Engineering Business Strategist, you will lead and deliver strategic projects that improve business and infrastructure planning processes, undertake analysis, support initiatives, and coordinate efforts to implement and sustain the Corporate Project Management Framework (CPMF). Primary duties include:

Develop and lead improvement processes including accountability reporting through system driven data and integrate best practices.
Develop plans and standards to facilitate the collection of infrastructure needs that will inform the needs assessments for strategic planning and business planning activities.
Research industry best practices for current activities or new initiatives related to project management and quality assurance.
Provide direction on business processes, practices, and methodologies to support successful implementation and integration of Information Technology (IT) and Information Management (IM) initiatives within the business unit.
Provide expert project management advice and guidance to the Project Management Network, including interpretation and application of CPMF requirements.

Qualifications

A degree in Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work. Experience must include project management, change management, and strategic business planning.
Preference will be given to applicants with education and experience in a discipline closely associated with the delivery of infrastructure projects (for example: civil, mechanical, environmental, water, wastewater).
The following are considered to be assets:
- A professional designation such as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Master of Public Administration (MPA).
- Leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring experience.
- Work experience with a national/international consulting firm.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated consulting and negotiation skills and the ability to influence to build consensus.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with sound judgement and proven decision making skills.

Workstyle

This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
