Position Responsibilities

The School of Trades and Technology is seeking a Full-Time Sessional Instructor (8.5 month Term Certain) to teach in the Engineering Department. The expectation will be that the faculty will teach
first year BSc Engineering as part of a university transfer program, and potentially other closely related topics.

Responsibilities of Full-Time Faculty at the School of Trades and Technology include (but are not limited to):

Delivering courses congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes
Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and learning styles
Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards
Inspiring students by exhibiting enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and subject material
Contributing to course and program curriculum development and renewal
Engaging in scholarly activity within the domains of Ernest Boyer’s model: scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching
Working collegially within department, School, or Institution committees and project teams

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline
P. Eng Designation
Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: statics, dynamics, engineering design, engineering ethics
Experience with engineering design and prototyping tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD platforms.
Experience with hands-on learning tools such as Arduino, microcontrollers, or introductory embedded systems

Note that alternate combinations of related education, certification, and work experience will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in related discipline
Post-secondary teaching experience
Experience using programming tools relevant to engineering education (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
Experience delivering laboratory, project-based, or experiential learning activities
