Location: Scarborough, ON
Shift: Day Shift (Monday to Friday)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm
Pay Rate: Competitive, based on experience

About the Opportunity

Galaxy HR is currently recruiting a Laser Operator for a leading custom machinery and manufacturing company in Scarborough. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment in a metal fabrication environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating laser cutting machines to produce high-quality components while ensuring production targets, safety standards, and quality requirements are met.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to process sheet metal and fabricated components.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
Load and unload raw materials using proper material handling techniques.
Verify material type, thickness, and dimensions prior to processing.
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as required to maintain quality standards.
Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning tasks.
Troubleshoot minor machine and production issues.
Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
Work closely with fabrication, welding, and production teams to ensure workflow efficiency.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow all company health, safety, and quality procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum 1–3 years of laser operating experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
Experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating Trumpf, Bystronic, Amada, Mazak, or similar laser cutting equipment.
Experience working with steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials.
Forklift and overhead crane experience.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Experience in custom machinery or precision fabrication environments.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing and fabrication environment.
Ability to safely handle sheet metal materials and fabricated components.
