Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Review orders for programming requirements.
- Write program(s) as required for product and any added templating for hardware.
- Ensure all CNC programming are created in accordance with production blueprints and quality standards.
- Provide assistance to CNC operators in setting up new programs. Prior to full implementation, put machinery through test runs to ensure programming is working effectively.
- Continually maintain the CNC programming database.
- Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve programming or quality issues.
- Verify and optimize all posted NC code.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Confirm with Department Supervisor the material is in stock.
- Advise Supervisor on any material requirements for producing orders if not in stock.
- Determine if batching is required.
- Send program to ‘shop floor’ for production.
- Assist on the shop floor when needed (i.e., trouble shoot, or run equipment).
- Perform other duties that may be outside the scope of your normal day to day activities (i.e., set up and run equipment to assist with manpower, etc)
Knowledge and experience:
- Experience and knowledge in sheet metal processing
- Experience and knowledge of Trump or Salvagnini CNC software and equipment
- Experience with programming using Trumpf TruTops Boost is preferred.
- Experience with sheet metal CAD/CAM programming for Wiedemann type turret punches:
- CAD/CAM and CNC programming software (Metalix/CNC-Kad is a bonus).
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
- Advanced knowledge of computer(s). Accreditation in Autocad.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Ability to perform engineering calculations as it pertains to sheet metal.
- Ability to accurately read measuring instruments (i.e., measuring tape, vernier caliper, level etc..) in both metric and imperial units.
- Knowledge of tooling and ability to set up machinery as required.
- Ability to read production orders and drawings.
- Ability to set-up, and operate machinery as assigned
- Ability to adapt and adjust to various assignments
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
