Industrial Field Service Technician
Location: Port Hope, ON
Travel Required: Approximately 20% (including travel within the United States)
Our client is a well established and growing manufacturer of specialized industrial equipment and is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Industrial Field Service Technician to join their team. This is a permanent full-time opportunity.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technical professional who enjoys solving problems, working directly with customers, and travelling to customer sites to install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial equipment and automation systems.
The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource for customers, providing exceptional service while ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform onsite equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and operational testing
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues at customer facilities
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and service activities
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems
- Provide remote technical support and guidance to customers as required
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and documentation accurately and on time
- Train operators and maintenance personnel during equipment commissioning and startup
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, operators, maintenance teams, engineers, and management
- Clearly communicate technical issues, findings, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical personnel
- Identify opportunities for replacement parts, equipment upgrades, and additional service support
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to improve equipment reliability, serviceability, and customer satisfaction
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies and customer site requirements

Technical Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and machinery
- Knowledge of motor controls and industrial electrical systems
- Experience with PLC diagnostics and troubleshooting would be an asset
- Familiarity with industrial automation systems is considered a strong asset
- Experience with equipment commissioning, startup, and preventative maintenance programs
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals is an asset
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education, apprenticeship, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Previous experience as a Field Service Technician, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Industrial Electrician, Automation Technician, Controls Technician, Millwright, Electro-Mechanical Technician, or similar technical role
- Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, automation, or equipment service environments is preferred
Travel Requirements
This position requires approximately 20% travel, including travel throughout the United States.
Candidates must:
- Hold a valid passport
- Be eligible to travel to the United States
- Be comfortable travelling independently when required
Location
Applicants must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to the Port Hope, Ontario area prior to starting employment.
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
