Our Civil Structures Asset Management office is looking for an Asset Specialist. Under the direction of the Manager, Asset Management Planning supports system adoption and enhancement with the goal of evidence-based and optimized asset management planning and State of Good Repair (SOGR) investments, and enhancement of Metrolinx's Asset Management Maturity with respect to Asset Management (AM) policies, strategies, day to day practices, and plans for Civil Structures.
What will I be doing?
Contribute to development and lead the implementation and enhancement of asset information system requirements for asset lifecycle management tasks, and the receival, entry, retrieval, and storage of all asset data and documents to assigned AIS (Asset Information Systems).
Gather, create, compile, maintain, and manage asset inventories and databases to enhance data integrity.
Represent Civil Structures for the planning, delivery, acceptance, and handover of the Civil assets from delivery to operations based on the handover protocols/requirements in close collaboration with technical and engineering experts, project delivery teams, and stakeholders.
Manage yearly update to the asset management plan and provide input into the risk-based prioritization of SOGR asset renewal investments to meet asset management strategic goals aligned with Metrolinx's overall strategic objectives.
Contribute to the development and lead the monitoring, reporting, dashboarding and modification of metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Civil Structures Asset Management to assist in prescribing a course of action for continuous improvement.
Implement and support Asset Management continuous improvement initiatives to improve Asset Management maturity within business unit (i.e., Asset Information, Asset Management Planning, Maintenance Planning, and Reliability Engineering).
Present materials to senior and executive management to engage and promote awareness of, and support for, the asset class progress and needs and apprise them of critical issues for escalation.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as required to meet organizational objectives
Receives reviews, investigates, and follows-up on customer/stakeholder complaints, and recommends and develops timely corrective actions
Coordinate the preparation of the cost centre(s) budget and recommend forecasts to the Manager for approval
Monitor and authorize expenditure of funds within limitations of the project budget and approve project completion expenditures; review and approve consultant invoices and contract payment certificates
Support staff engaged through all project management stages to implement and ensure the success for Metrolinx Asset Information systems; provides advice to staff and personnel assigned to individual projects
Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to liaise with all levels within the organization; to work effectively with specialists across multiple sectors.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Completion of a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
Demonstrated Experience in Asset Management for Civil structures, including but not limited to whole life cost modelling, asset investment planning; asset management performance monitoring; asset information systems, etc.
Asset Management Certification or Diploma (preferred)
Knowledge of ISO 55000s, Asset Management, knowledge of EAM and ArcGIS software preferred.
Knowledge of Structural and Civil engineering principles and standards including but not limited to AREMA, CHBDC, OSIM, MTO Structure Rehabilitation Manual, etc.
Interpersonal, oral/written communication to effectively communicate with employees, assist or deliver presentations, and respond to requests for information from stakeholders
Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI)
Organizational skills to work independently and prioritize daily requirements with limited supervision
Experience in research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Organization skills to work as a team member and provide team leadership, and to work independently
Project management, vendor management, bid preparation, and technical analysis skills to project and substantiate the impact of service level changes on staffing, budgets, and equipment.
Supervisory principles and practices to influence and motivate others
Project management, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills to coordinate complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
Analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze problems, detect root causes, and resolve issues
