Job description
Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools to perform precision machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, drilling, precision grinding and other operations. Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand & power tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery. Ability to machine a wide range of materials. Experience operating a manual lathe/mill. Ability to use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) Knowledge of machining principals, tooling, fixturing and tool set up for specialized machining. Ability & desire to work in a team setting. Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling & positioning components. Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials with general mechanical knowledge. Must have accuracy, reliability and be quality focused.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma
Valid driver's license
Industry related training and/or one to two years of prior experience (preferred)
Able to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics.
Familiar with utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems with the hydraulic components.
Familiar with tools and equipment such as common hand tools, electrical/air tools, torch, arc welder, and various types of testing equipment.
Able to read and understand service manuals.
Must have your own tools.
Possess a strong work ethic & positive attitude.
Must be reliable and able to work independently.
Teachable, able to follow instructions.
Able to use Hydraulic and mechanical jacks, hand trucks, cranes & hoists, wrenches, screwdrivers, grinders/honing tools, drills, saws/cut-offs, punches, torches, iron workers, company vehicles, material-hoisting slings, welding machines, data entry software, Microsoft excel and Microsoft word.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general shop clean-up duties.
Ensure equipment is safe to operate, securely stored and practice good housekeeping of work area.
Provide excellent customer service.
Clean and maintain equipment and tools.
Abide by safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe & unobstructed work area.
Effectively communicate with management.
Diagnose and repair certain hydraulic components.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment.
Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs.
Conduct inspections to identify potential problems.
Collaborate with supervisor to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Document and record relevant job information and measurements.
Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on equipment.
Adhere to safety protocols while working in the shop and on job sites.
Ability to solve basic problems that may arise on the job.
Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and plumbing systems in day to day tasks for the job.
Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner and be able to prioritize important work.
Ability to communicate any issues or problems to upper management while also being able to work with other staff members to get a particular job completed
Ability to multitask and juggle a variety of jobs and requests at one time.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
