Full job description

What began as a meat delivery business in Stellarton, Nova Scotia has grown to over 128,000 teammates at corporate-owned and franchised/affiliate store locations. Sobeys Capital Incorporated and its independently owned and operated franchise stores operate over 1,500 stores in all 10 provinces. You may know us as Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, Lawtons Drugs, Voilà, or another of our banners, but we are all one extended family.
Please note that this career opportunity is for a role at an independently owned and operated franchised/affiliate store location.

Overview:
This position is to be used in the vast majority of stores.
The clerk is required to deliver exceptional customer service at all times. They are responsible for product production and merchandising and ensuring that their workspace is attractive and in good condition at all times.

Responsibilities:

Receive and store merchandise in accordance with established standards.
Package and label products and implement price changes in accordance with established standards.
Place merchandise on counters and in displays.
Oversee all product rotations.
Provide exceptional and attentive customer service.
Ensure equipment and supplies are used in a safe and efficient manner.
Ensure workspace, counters and shelves are clean at all times.
Comply with established food safety and hygiene standards.
Remain vigilant to minimize merchandise loss and breakage.
Perform any other related duties.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma is a valuable asset.
A thorough knowledge of receiving, production and display tasks is a valuable asset.
You have strong communication skills and are attentive to customer needs.
You have strong technical skills in the applicable department.
You are known for your energy, interpersonal skills and resourcefulness.
You are available to work various shifts during business hours.

Effort and working conditions:

Flexible work hours and ability to work overtime
Short-term exposure to chemicals and cleaning products
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 20 kg
