Full job description

Bayview Construction has been an integral part of the community for over 25 years. As part of its continued growth, it is currently accepting applicants for the position of Heavy Duty Truck Mechanics and Heavy Duty Mechanics. We are a diversified company that works 365 days a year on street maintenance and renewals in the summer, an underground sewer/water division year-round, street cleaning in spring, summer, fall, and snow removal in the winter. This diversification requires not only a year-round maintenance staff but one that will work on a variety of equipment from a CAT 972 loader to a modern Concrete Paver to a small generator engine.

Job Position Overview

· Maintain heavy equipment consisting of loaders, excavators, rollers, pavers all of varying sizes. The majority being Caterpillar equipment

· Maintain a large on highway truck fleet consisting of semis, trailers, tandems, and single axles

· Maintain a light vehicle fleet consisting of pickup trucks

· Maintain small engines for generators, packers, etc.

· Diagnose and repair the above-mentioned equipment

Qualifications & Requirements

· Licensed red seal technician is preferred but technicians with applicable skills and experience are also desired

- MPI Safety Certification would be an asset

· Commitment to safe work practices

· Excellent troubleshooting skills

· Computer skills are an asset including experience with Peterbilt, Western Star, Kenworth, Caterpillar and John Deere operating systems

· Technician to provide their own basic tools

· Ability to work independently or as part of a team within a shop and field environment

· Provide a minimum Class 5 Driver’s license and a copy of Driver’s Abstract

· Provide copies of current certifications

· Welding an asset but not a necessity
