Role Summary:

Stormtec is seeking a 2nd or 3rd Year Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician. This role combines shop and field service responsibilities, supporting the maintenance, repair, and reliability of Stormtec's fleet and specialized dewatering equipment.

The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel-powered pumps, generators, light towers, and fleet vehicles while receiving cross-training on specialized water management equipment. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined apprentice who enjoys hands-on work in both shop and field environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Repairs

Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel pumps, generators, light towers, and related equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on diesel engines and pumping equipment.
Conduct testing, servicing, and troubleshooting to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
Assist with emergency repairs and equipment breakdowns in both shop and field settings.

Fleet Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Stormtec's fleet vehicles, including light and medium-duty trucks, with a primary focus on Ford vehicles.
Complete fluid services, brake repairs, suspension work, electrical diagnostics, and other maintenance activities as required.
Maintain vehicle service records and report any major repair requirements.

Field Service Support

Travel to project sites to perform maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Support equipment mobilization and demobilization activities when required.
Maintain a professional relationship with internal stakeholders and clients while working in the field.

Documentation & Compliance

Complete work orders, preventative maintenance reports, inspection forms, and safety documentation accurately and on time.
Assist in maintaining equipment maintenance records and service schedules.
Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Maintain clean and organized work areas, service trucks, and shop facilities.

Qualifications:

Education & Certifications

Registered 2nd or 3rd Year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice.
Pursuing Off-Road Red Seal certification
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with an acceptable driving record.

Experience

Experience working on diesel-powered equipment and engines.
Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs.
Experience working with pumps, generators, construction equipment, or fleet vehicles is considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
Willingness to learn specialized pumping and water management equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Work orders and maintenance records completed with accuracy.
Strong adherence to safety procedures and company standards.
Continued progression toward Heavy Equipment Technician Red Seal certification.
