Raise is currently hiring a Civil Technologist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.
Description
The Civil Technologist will join our our Technical Services (-TS) team. In this role, you will play a key part in the execution of civil engineering design work across various mining and industrial projects. Working closely with civil engineers and multi-disciplinary project teams, you will be responsible for developing detailed 3D models, 2D construction drawings, and complete execution packages that drive site safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities

Civil Engineering & Technical Design
-
Perform civil design and drafting for industrial mining infrastructure projects within the -TS framework.

Collaborate directly with Civil Engineers to support model development, 2D layout production, and detailed construction drawings.

Ensure all civil design work strictly adheres to ’s internal processes, standards, design criteria, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Maintain strict quality control through self-checking, peer checks, and accuracy verification on all technical design deliverables.

Project Execution & Work Packages

Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs), Material Take-Offs (MTOs), and Construction Work Packages (CWPs).

Assemble comprehensive, site-ready construction packages in alignment with project schedules and execution strategies.

Apply relevant provincial, national, and industry-specific building codes, standards, and environmental regulations to all design layouts.

Coordination & Leadership

Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining active collaboration within a multi-discipline engineering team.

Provide design guidance, layout leadership, and practical drafting expertise during interdisciplinary model reviews.
Proactively identify technical design clashes or execution risks, offering practical, results-oriented solutions.

Qualifications
-
4 to 9 years of direct experience in civil design and drafting.

Proven track record providing technical civil design expertise within a mining, heavy industrial, or major infrastructure project environment.

Demonstrated experience preparing comprehensive CWPs, MTOs, and detailed civil construction details from concept through final issue.

Advanced CAD Proficiency: Extensive, hands-on experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for surface modeling, site grading, road alignments, and utility layouts.

Specialized Software Knowledge: Proficiency or strong working knowledge with Navisworks (3D coordination/clash detection) and AutoTurn (vehicle swept-path analysis).

Codes & Standards: Sound working knowledge of Canadian civil engineering codes, municipal/provincial regulations, and industrial mining design standards.

Leadership & Initiative: Self-starter who takes ownership of deliverables and leads by example in design accuracy and safety-first principles.

Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for clear interaction with engineers, project managers, and site personnel.

Teamwork: Ability to seamlessly integrate and coordinate across discipline teams (structural, mechanical, electrical) under tight project deadlines.

Education and Certifications

Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.

Professional registration (or eligibility for registration) as a C.T.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist) with ASET, SASTT, or an equivalent provincial association is preferred.
