Overview

Join our dynamic logistics team as a Shunter Driver, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth movement and organization of freight within our facility. This energetic position offers the opportunity to operate heavy equipment, manage freight movements efficiently, and contribute to the seamless flow of goods. Your expertise will help maintain safety standards while supporting the overall productivity of our operations. Duties

Safely operate shunting trucks and heavy equipment to move freight around the yard and loading areas
Coordinate the precise positioning of trailers and containers to designated locations within the facility
Conduct routine inspections of forklifts and other heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
Assist with loading and unloading freight using forklifts or other heavy machinery, ensuring proper handling of cargo
Maintain accurate documentation of freight movements, trailer locations, and equipment usage
Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting on vehicles and equipment as needed
Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to operational procedures
Should have forklift experience, may require to operate forklift
May require to do deliveries occasionally

Skills

Proven experience operating forklifts, commercial trucks, and heavy machinery in a fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of freight handling, trailer coupling/uncoupling, and yard management processes
Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently
Knowledge of safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and transportation standards
Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues promptly
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification preferred
Prior experience with freight logistics or warehouse operations is advantageous
