Job Description

This position is for our Extendicare Red River Place Home, located in Selkirk, Manitoba

Available opportunities include: Part-Time; Day/Evening/Night shifts

What you’ll be doing

Assessment of people with physical dysfunction of the cardio-pulmonary, musculo-skeletal and neurological systems
Planning and implementation of care plans to improve movement, function, pain, and optimize overall function
Assignment of duties and supervision of non-regulated rehabilitation providers (e.g., rehabilitation aides and/or occupational therapy/physiotherapy assistants)
Documentation of assessments and progress in the electronic health record
Participation in resident and family education, including but not limited to care conferences
Participation in quality improvement and enhancement initiatives at the home and regional levels (e.g., falls prevention)
Collaboration with the inter-professional healthcare team, residents and their families to achieve set resident goals and adjust the care plan as needed
Provide education to the interprofessional team to support evidence-based care
Participation in the education of health professions students, including preceptorship of physiotherapy and rehabilitation aide students

What you bring

Two (2) years clinical experience in the relevant clinical area with preference for working with seniors and/or in long-term care
Entry-to practice degree in physiotherapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated
Registered on the practicing roster of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba and in good standing
Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred or willingness to register as a condition of employment
Knowledge of culturally competent care
Proficiency in Point Click Care and Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated effective decision making and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with staff, leaders and external stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Excellent work and attendance record
