A major nuclear refurbishment program and a first-of-kind SMR construction project are both underway in Ontario, and both require qualified design engineers across multiple disciplines — mechanical, electrical, civil, I&C, and others. The engineering work supporting these programs is underway now and will continue for the better part of the decade. We are building this pipeline to stay ahead of that demand.
Raise is building a pipeline of Design Engineers across multiple disciplines for contract opportunities with a leading enterprise organization undertaking major capital and modification programs in Ontario's energy sector. This is not a live posting for a single role. Apply once, and we'll contact you when something matches your discipline and experience level.
About the Opportunity
Hundreds of modifications across turbine generator systems, boiler replacements, retube and feeder work, balance-of-plant, and facilities infrastructure require qualified design engineers to develop, review, and implement changes. These roles are technically demanding and safety-critical. They require engineers who understand how to work within regulated environments, follow governed change processes, and deliver quality engineering in complex operational settings.
What You Could Be Working On
-
Developing engineering designs, calculations, and technical specifications for plant modifications
-
Executing Engineering Change Control (ECC) processes from scoping through to field closeout
-
Reviewing and accepting vendor engineering deliverables on behalf of the owner
-
Performing technical evaluations, field walkdowns, and resolving field-initiated changes
-
Supporting installation, commissioning, and available-for-service milestones
-
Providing technical guidance to junior engineers and design staff
-
Ensuring all work meets CNSC regulatory requirements and applicable codes and standards
What We're Looking For
-
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline
-
4 to 10+ years of design engineering experience in power generation, utilities, heavy industrial, or regulated environments
-
Experience with engineering change control processes — OPG DE qualification (QID 33685) is a significant asset
-
P.Eng. designation or eligibility preferred
-
Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Why Apply Now
Engineering roles in nuclear environments often require specific site qualifications and clearances that take time to process. Getting into our pipeline early means we can assess your background, understand your qualification status, and position you ahead of the execution ramp beginning in 2027.
Experience in CANDU facilities, nuclear utilities, heavy industrial, or regulated engineering environments is a strong asset. Candidates with existing OPG Design Engineer qualification or active nuclear security clearance are especially encouraged to apply.
Location: Pickering, Darlington, Bowmanville, Tiverton, and Oshawa — primarily onsite with some hybrid options
Contract Length: Typically 12 to 24 months, with strong likelihood of extension
