As the Application Lead / Solution Designer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, modernizing, and supporting critical enterprise applications on AWS. We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who can help migrate legacy business capabilities to cloud-native, scalable, secure, and highly available architectures while also advancing the use of automation, AI-enabled development practices, and agentic solutions where they create measurable business value. You will lead technical design, guide implementation, improve existing capabilities, and partner with delivery teams to build resilient, supportable solutions. Minimum Requirements:
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, or supporting applications on AWS
Strong working knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, API Gateway, Cognito, DynamoDB, Glue, IAM, and related services (e.g. Docker, EKS / AKS)
Experience developing and supporting full-stack applications, REST APIs, microservices, serverless patterns, and event-driven solutions. This should include Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices, including Terraform, AWS CDK, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure deployment practices
Experience with TypeScript, Python, SQL/NoSQL database design, and modern integration patterns
Demonstrated use of AI-enabled software delivery practices, such as code generation, documentation support, test case creation, solution analysis, or developer productivity tools
AWS Developer – Associate certification is preferred; AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Generative AI certification would be considered an asset

Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement scalable, secure, highly available, and fault-tolerant applications and services on AWS
Lead and support the modernization and migration of legacy applications, services, and business capabilities to AWS cloud environments
Design, develop, test, enhance, and support applications/microservices/API’s/serverless components using AWS technologies, modern software engineering practices, and cloud-native design patterns
Apply AI-enabled development practices where appropriate to improve delivery quality, accelerate documentation and testing, support solution analysis, and increase engineering productivity
Contribute to the design or evaluation of agentic and generative AI solutions, including use cases involving intelligent workflow automation, knowledge retrieval, tool/API invocation, content generation, or support automation
Ensure AI and agentic solutions are implemented responsibly, with appropriate security, data protection, guardrails, monitoring, validation, and human-in-the-loop controls
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, security, and cloud cost
Location and other Key Details:
This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday with occasional site visits
Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based on years of experience and scope of work
