Plant Operations SupervisorAbout the Position
We are looking for a hands-on Plant Operations Supervisor to help lead the daily operations of our electronics recycling facility.
This is not a desk-based supervisory position. You will spend a significant portion of your day on the plant floor, working alongside the team, operating a forklift, coordinating daily priorities, and helping the Plant Manager keep operations running safely and efficiently.
Working closely with the Plant Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership to plant employees and help ensure production targets are met, materials flow efficiently through the facility, employees follow safe work practices, and operational issues are addressed quickly.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced team lead, production supervisor, warehouse supervisor, shift supervisor, or industrial operations professional who wants to take the next step in operations management while remaining actively involved on the plant floor.
What You’ll DoOperations & Production
- Provide hands-on leadership and maintain a strong presence on the plant floor.
- Coordinate daily production priorities, labour allocation, material flow, and equipment requirements.
- Regularly operate a forklift and other applicable material-handling equipment to support operations.
- Monitor production targets, labour productivity, quality, downtime, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify production bottlenecks, operational challenges, and inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.
- Help improve production processes, plant organization, and overall operational efficiency.
- Support proper receiving, movement, processing, storage, inventory control, and shipment of materials.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach, support, and motivate plant employees.
- Ensure employees follow company procedures, safe work practices, and operational standards.
- Lead by example and support a positive, productive, and accountable work environment.
- Act as the Plant Manager’s operational backup during absences or as directed.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain high standards of workplace safety, housekeeping, and organization throughout the facility.
- Participate in safety initiatives, incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects.
- Support compliance with applicable environmental and electronics recycling requirements, including R2 standards and company procedures.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with Logistics, Sales, Compliance, Health & Safety, Human Resources, and other departments as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, recycling, warehousing, production, or another industrial environment.
- Previous experience as a team lead, supervisor, or in an operations leadership role.
- Forklift operating experience.
- Strong hands-on leadership skills and willingness to work alongside the team.
- Good understanding of production operations, material handling, and logistics.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Good organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
- Ability to work under pressure and adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications / Assets
The following are considered assets but are not required:
- Bilingualism in English and French, both oral and written.
- Experience in electronics recycling, metal recycling, waste management, or a related industry.
- Knowledge of R2, environmental, quality, or recycling standards.
- Current forklift certification.
- College or university diploma in operations management, business, industrial engineering, or a related field.
