BIS Safety Software is a SaaS company on a mission to change how organizations manage safety, learning, and compliance - and the team behind that mission matters just as much as the product. We're looking for a Talent Acquisition - Sourcing Specialist who proactively seeks out exceptional people, builds genuine relationships with them, and introduces them to BIS long before they ever think about applying.
This is a headhunter-style sourcing role. You will spend your days finding top-tier talent, reaching out cold and warm, having coffees and conversations, and building a pipeline of people we would love to hire - often well before a role even opens. The proof of your work is real hires: candidates who join BIS because you found them and kept them engaged.
This is an in-person role based out of our Sherwood Park, AB office. Occasional travel may be required to attend networking events, conferences, career fairs, and other talent-focused community initiatives.
- Own and continuously develop our talent lists across key areas of the business and future hiring needs.
- Source and engage exceptional talent through LinkedIn Recruiter, networking, referrals, industry groups, events, and creative sourcing strategies.
- Conduct active cold and warm outreach on a consistent basis, building genuine relationships through coffees, calls, meetings, and networking conversations.
- Develop talent maps for key roles and identify individuals BIS should know long before a hiring need exists.
- Build and maintain strong talent pipelines so that when opportunities arise, there is already an engaged network of qualified candidates ready to connect.
- Spend time in the community representing BIS at networking events, career fairs, conferences, industry gatherings, and local business functions.
- Maintain relationships with high-potential candidates, even when there is no immediate opportunity available.
- Help improve how BIS finds people by contributing ideas, leveraging AI tools, and developing new sourcing methods that make our outreach more effective.
- Support full-cycle recruiting activities from time to time, including interviews and candidate evaluation, while maintaining a primary focus on sourcing and pipeline development.
- A natural connector who builds relationships people genuinely want to be apart of and can get candidates excited about the possibility of joining BIS.
- Stay relentlessly optimistic through the realities of outreach and relationship-building. You understand that finding exceptional people requires persistence and consistency.
- Resourceful and know how to uncover strong candidates when they aren't obvious or actively looking for opportunities.
- Genuinely curious about people and ask thoughtful questions that help uncover motivations, strengths, and potential.
- Enjoy being out in the community, meeting new people, and expanding your professional network.
- AI-forward and excited about leveraging new technology to improve how talent is identified and engaged.
- Demonstrate strong judgment, professionalism, and follow-through.
- Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where initiative, ownership, and creativity are valued
- Experience building relationships professionally through recruiting, sourcing, business development, community engagement, sales, or another people-focused role.
- A track record of proactively reaching out, starting conversations, and building connections from scratch rather than waiting for opportunities to come to you.
- Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter or similar tools to identify and engage prospective candidates.
- Sound judgment when evaluating who would genuinely thrive at BIS.
- The persistence and resilience to keep building relationships even when the answer isn't immediately "yes."
- Experience in agency recruiting, executive search, or talent sourcing where finding great people was the priority - not waiting for them to apply.
- Experience working in a SaaS, technology, or other fast-paced growth environment.
- Experience using an ATS such as Lever or similar recruiting platforms.
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
- Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Life insurance and disability insurance
- Health spending account
- Flexible working hours
- On-the-job training and growth opportunities
- Free on-site parking
Salary ranges are based on experience, reflecting the unique skillset each individual brings to the role.
