The Opportunity
Our Client is in the middle of one of the most significant technology transformations in its Canadian history — decommissioning a legacy mainframe, moving toward cloud-native architecture on AWS, modernizing a complex integration landscape across Salesforce, MuleSoft, and Defi, and building its AI governance framework under FINTRAC regulatory oversight.
The Enterprise Architect owns all of it from a standards and design perspective. You will define where the organization is going architecturally, govern how it gets there, and enable every delivery team to build solutions that are secure, scalable, and aligned to a coherent target state. This is a greenfield mandate in the truest sense — the EA practice at the organization is being built, not inherited.
If you have been waiting for the opportunity to own enterprise architecture end to end — not just contribute to it — this is that role.
What You Will Do
- Own the organization's enterprise architecture strategy: define the target state, govern the standards, and ensure every solution built or bought aligns to it.
- Lead the mainframe decommission architecture — designing integration points, data migration strategy, and the path to the Alpha platform across a highly interconnected system landscape.
- Set and govern cloud guardrails and design standards for the organization's AWS environment as the organization moves toward cloud-native operations.
- Define integration patterns and standards across APIs, middleware, and messaging — managing a complex web of connections between Salesforce, MuleSoft, Defi, and upstream/downstream systems.
- Build the organization's Responsible AI governance framework: guardrails, approved patterns, risk review process, and documentation standards for AI and GenAI use cases.
- Lead and coach the Solution Architect and delivery teams — reviewing designs, enabling teams on standards, and driving documentation quality.
- Maintain governance artifacts (architecture decision records, reference architectures, exception logs) that support both internal delivery and FINTRAC regulatory audits.
What We Are Looking For
Required
- 7+ years of enterprise and/or solution architecture experience across application, integration, data, and infrastructure domains.
- Hands-on AWS experience — you can put an organization on cloud infrastructure, not just diagram it.
- Enterprise integration architecture depth: APIs, middleware, ESBs — practical design experience in complex, multi-platform environments.
- Ability to produce clear, audit-ready architecture documentation: models, decision records, reference architectures, interface specifications.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to navigate complex as-is/to-be architectural transitions.
Preferred
- Financial services, banking, or regulated environment experience — FINTRAC familiarity is a strong plus.
- EA framework experience (TOGAF or equivalent) — certification not required, demonstrated practical application is what matters.
- Experience with Salesforce, MuleSoft, or Defi Solutions.
- AI/GenAI governance or responsible AI framework experience in regulated environments.
- Mainframe decommission or legacy system migration architecture experience.
- Experience coaching solution architects or building an architecture practice.
