CFM is seeking an experienced Engineer specializing in lifting equipment, engineered lifting devices, and related industrial systems. This role provides technical expertise in the inspection, certification, repair, and engineering support of a diverse range of assets, including lifting equipment, pressure systems, and industrial structures, across both field and office environments.
This role can be based at any one of our CFM offices; Saint Joh, NB, Dartmouth, NS or Mt. Pearl, NF.
- Develop engineered repair procedures for lifting devices, pressure equipment, piping systems and storage tanks
- Support project planning, budgeting, and cost tracking across multi-discipline work scopes
- Interface with clients, regulators, and third-party stakeholders
- Provide engineering input related to asset integrity, fitness-for-service (FFS), and repair/alteration activities
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (CSA, API, ASME, ISO, and provincial OH&S)
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, inspection practices, and QA/QC systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with PEG (or eligibility)
- A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience with lifting equipment and below-the-hook devices, API storage tanks (e.g., API 650 / 653) and pressure vessels and piping systems (ASME, CSA B51)
- Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards: CSA B335, CSA Z150, CSA W59, API, ASME, ISO standards
- Experience in inspection, certification, and repair/alteration of industrial assets
- Welding engineering knowledge or CWB certification is considered an asset
- Experience in EPCM or large industrial operations preferred
- Working knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes
Relevant hands-on experience should include a combination of:
Mobile and overhead cranes, aerial work platforms (e.g., JLG equipment), Engineered lifting devices (manbaskets, spreader bars, bridles, lifting lugs), API storage tanks and pressure vessels and piping systems.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (e.g., Inventor or similar)
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Solid understanding of fitness-for-service (FFS) and damage assessment methodologies
Advanced Microsoft Office skills
