HOURS OF WORK:
The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Program performs the intake function for programs, may include comprehensive psychiatric assessments for patients referred to out-patient programs, and prepares written documentation/reports to be shared with the Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Program Clinicians and/or Physicians. The RN also provides system navigation support to patients as needed; offers psychoeducation, medication information, and assessment of symptoms. The RN works collaboratively with other members of the out-patient team to determine clinic processes and patient management. Coverage in all other Mental Health and Addiction Outpatient areas will be required (including but not limited to the Psychological Assessment and Treatment Clinic (PATC), Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic, and the Child and Youth Urgent Care Clinic).
This position is ideal for an RN with a passion for working with concurrent disorders and experience with substance abuse, addiction, withdrawal management, harm reduction, psychological histories and mental health issues.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Registered Nurse B.Sc.N required

Masters in Nursing considered an asset

Experience in clinical assessment and triage required

Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario

Current BCLS Certification
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Mental Health Nursing preferred; or alternatively completion of a College level Mental Health certificate or commitment to undertaking such a certificate with completion within 2 years of commencing employment
WHO YOU ARE:

Outpatient, community, and/or Crisis nursing experience preferred.

Experience with assessments across the lifespan including, but not limited to Youth, Adult, Addiction based assessments required.

Ability to cover other nursing needs in: RAAM clinic, PATC clinic, and Child and Youth UCC is expected.

Some work is conducted off-site at Community Partners (Peterborough Youth Services)

Ability to work with minimal supervision with the ability to seek assistance/supervision when necessary.

Demonstrated expertise in the provision of clinical services for persons with serious persistent mental illness Demonstrated understanding of psycho-social rehabilitation principles and commitment to client-directed services.

Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric and community nursing
