As a member of Finance Team, the Accounting Coordinator will report to the Manager of Finance and be responsible for supporting the accounts receivable, payroll and other accounting functions at Compass.
RESPONSABILITIES:
Managing Accounts Receivable functions, including:
- Draft, revise and coordinate accounts receivable contracts
- Issue invoices at appropriate intervals (monthly, quarterly, etc.) including reconciliation of related GL accounts
- Review aging report regularly and follow up on past due receivables
- For shared locations managed by Compass, reconcile operating costs, invoice partners accordingly including providing monthly summary and supporting documents
- Deposit cheques and cash, record all cash receipts
Managing Payroll functions, including:
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll
- Issue records of employment for terminations and report terminations to HOOPP
- Enter payroll entries into the accounting system;
- Review extended health care and group benefits invoices monthly and follow-up with Provider and/or HR accordingly to rectify any issues
- Prepare and process monthly payments and reports for payroll liabilities, (WSIB, HOOPP, EHT and OPSEU)
- Prepare annual reconciliation for WSIB and EHT
- Review employee information regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness of data
- Coordinate with HR collection of benefit payments re employee on leaves
Managing Year End Audit functions, including:
- Assist in preparing required working papers and other supporting documents
- Liaise with the auditors (respond to inquiries, provide requested support)
Managing Banking and Commercial Credit Cards, including:
- Manage online employee card credit accounts, (issue new cards, cancel cards, credit limit changes), manage email alerts, download monthly statement
- Prepare and post bank reconciliations in accounting system
- Download and save all bank statements and operating bank account transactions
- Process required transfers to/from the Charity and operating bank account
Assist in reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly
Respond to inquiries from Managers and Directors regarding policies, procedures, etc.
Assist in updating finance policies, processes and forms, educating staff on changes
Assist in creating and updating financial report templates (Sage Business Intelligence)
Assist in preparing financial statements and other reports
Issue official charity receipts for donations
Backup the sage database monthly
Additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University or College Diploma in business accounting or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience with accounting functions as well as payroll and employee benefits
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to assess priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience with Excel and a variety of computer software, experience with Sage 300 considered an asset
- Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license and the availability of an automobile in good working condition
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, French is an asset
- CPA designation considered an asset
