Position Overview
The Site Operations General Technician plays a key role in supporting daily construction, earthworks, and site service operations across active project sites. This position is responsible for assisting with site setup, material handling, excavation support, equipment coordination, traffic and pedestrian safety controls, and maintaining safe and efficient work areas.
This role works closely with Foremen, Operators, Drivers, and Supervisors to help ensure projects remain organized, productive, and compliant with company safety standards.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, physically capable, and comfortable working in fast-paced construction environments with changing site conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Site Support & Operations
- Support daily construction and site servicing operations
- Assist with excavation support activities including trench preparation, bedding installation, and backfilling
- Perform compaction and material preparation tasks according to site specifications
- Install and maintain fencing, barricades, signage, trench protection systems, and traffic control devices
- Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and movement of materials and equipment
- Spot operators, trucks, and equipment during excavation and material movement activities
- Assist with small concrete work, grading, cleanup, and general site preparation
- Support utility locating and ground disturbance activities when required
Site Organization & Safety
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas
- Assist with housekeeping, debris removal, and material organization
- Conduct basic equipment and tool inspections
- Participate in FLHAs, toolbox talks, and daily safety meetings
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices
- Identify and report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately
- Support emergency response activities on site when required
Equipment & Tool Operation
- Operate light equipment and tools including: Plate compactors, Jumping jacks, Skid steers, Small generators and pumps, Laser levels and layout equipment
- Assist with equipment setup, fueling, maintenance, and organization
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- 1–4 years of construction, earthworks, or site services experience preferred
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
- Ability to work safely around excavation work and heavy equipment
- Physically capable of lifting, shoveling, compacting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing site priorities
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
Preferred Experience
- Experience with trenching, grading, compaction, and utility work
- Experience spotting equipment and supporting excavation crews
- Basic understanding of site layouts and construction drawings
- Experience operating light construction equipment considered an asset
Certifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- CSTS
- Standard First Aid
- Ground Disturbance Level 2 (201)
- Additional safety certifications are considered assets.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
