The Concurrent Disorder Unit (CDU), opening at the Peter Lougheed Centre is a twelve-bed inpatient unit intended to support patients with concurrent mental health and substance use disorders. The team will provide evidence-based stabilization and recovery-oriented care for adults requiring medical withdrawal management and acute psychiatric stabilization. This will include both voluntary and involuntary patients. As the Clinical Nurse Educator for this unit, you will play a pivotal role in shaping clinical excellence and supporting staff development in a highly specialized environment. You will provide education, mentorship, and guidance to nursing and interdisciplinary teams, ensuring best practices in trauma-informed care, recovery oriented, and culturally safe approaches for patients experiencing substance use and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic environment, a commitment to continuous learning, and strong self-motivation while prioritizing self-care. You will bring creativity and innovation to educational strategies and program development, maintain a culturally competent and equity-informed approach, and uphold ethical conduct and professionalism in all interactions. As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Successful candidates will demonstrate advanced clinical expertise and a strong ability to translate evidence-based practices into practical education for nursing and interdisciplinary teams. Required qualifications include experience in developing and delivering training programs, mentoring staff, and supporting competency development in high-acuity or specialized care settings. Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include experience in mental health and addiction services, knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally safe care principles, and familiarity with provincial legislation related Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment. A proven ability to implement quality improvement initiatives and adapt education strategies to meet diverse learning needs is highly valued.
