OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT Director of System Improvement
1 Year Secondment with the opportunity to extend Effective August 2026
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Director of System Improvement is a senior district leadership team member, advancing system improvement across schools, districts, and the province in alignment with School and District Improvement Plan, and Provincial Education Plan objectives. This role focuses on strengthening leadership of system improvement and leadership collaboration, and supporting effective implementation of priorities through strong relationships, structured thinking, and continuous improvement practices.
Key Responsibilities
System Improvement
- Lead with a system-wide improvement lens, connecting school, district, and provincial objectives
- Lead and support districts in developing, implementing, and evaluating District Improvement Plan, School Improvement Plan, and Provincial Education Plan objectives
District Liaison & Leadership Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between districts and EECD, ensuring the continued implementation of long- term recommendations (e.g. Middle Level Philosophy, and Absenteeism) and implementation of Provincial Education Plan actions
- Build strong professional relationships and facilitate collaborative action within and across schools, the district, EECD and external partners to advance school, district and provincial objectives
- Provide informed advice and influence at senior leadership table to shape school, district and provincial progress on established objectives
Change Leadership & Implementation Support
- Achieve systemic improvement by leading and supporting effective change leadership within schools, districts, and provincially
- Leverage experience working on strategic initiatives and leading through change for
systemic improvement across schools and the district

Lead and support system innovation with senior district leadership, including School Innovation Pilots and the Internal School Review process
- Lead the continued development of processes for review, growth, and evaluation of District
and School Improvement Plan outcomes
Continuous Improvement & Capacity Building
- Lead and contribute to building organizational capacity for ongoing improvement and implementation practices through shared approaches to process improvement methodologies
- Support alignment and consistency in how work is planned, executed, and evaluated
across schools, districts and EECD
Coordination, Monitoring & Reporting
- Lead the coordination of key initiatives through effective planning, development of clear roles, deliverables, and processes for communication
- When requested, support the Superintendent with consistent tracking, status reporting, and communication of school, district, and provincial objectives
- Identify risks and barriers and provide solutions to allow for successful implementation of school, district, and provincial objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Leadership, or a related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following areas: Business operations, program administration, or service delivery management, including planning, implementation, and oversight of programs, services, or operational functions
- Strategic planning and implementation of organizational, divisional, or system-wide priorities
- Project, program, or portfolio management of complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
- Continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness initiatives, including the assessment, redesign, implementation, and evaluation of processes, programs, services, or organizational practices
- Performance measurement, monitoring, and reporting
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing strategic advice and support directly to senior executives on corporate priorities and transformational initiatives.
- Proven ability to influence decision-making, drive organizational change, and achieve strategic outcomes in a complex environment.
- Experience facilitating stakeholder engagement, building consensus, and managing competing priorities.
Asset Qualifications
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Certification in Strategic Planning.
- Certification in Balanced Scorecard or performance measurement methodology.
- Certification in project management methodology.
- Certification in change management methodology.
- An understanding of the Education system at the school, district and provincial levels.

Salary: This is a Management and Non-Union Position with Pay Band 8 - $112,398 – $126,594 annually.
