Job Description
Performs various assembly and sub-assembly operations in a production area requiring general physical dexterity. Responsible for ensuring timely and quality production of products in GM assembly.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
- Be fluent in and stay current with all cyclo product assembly practices.
- Ability to inspect/analyze all failed Sumitomo products and determine cause of failure.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
- Ability to competently use a variety of measuring tools (micrometers, bore gauges, height gauge, etc)
- Competent in the use and instruction of a variety of shop tools/equipment (drill press, bench grinder, pullers, torches, etc).
- Distribute work orders to appropriate assembly lines.
- Assign, monitor and balance individual employee workloads.
- Promptly report any order in danger of missing its due date.
- Enter DR’s in a prompt efficient manner.
- Monitor safe work practices, pre-shift inspections and use of equipment within the GM assembly area.
- Monitor jigs and tooling and report deficiencies to supervisor
- Ensure time is allocated for housekeeping and 6S initiatives. Monitor for productivity and participation. (6S must make sense, bring value, be low maintenance, all must be engaged)
- Participate in, provide input into and encourage your team to embrace the continuous improvement program.
- Actively pursue a team culture.
- Actively look for ways to improve productivity/quality and moral.
- Assist supervisor in developing a plan to cross train staff.
- Assist GM assembly staff with minor issues (find missing parts, special/unusual units, obtain layout drawings, monitor accuracy/quality).
- Report/discuss with supervisor training requirements, tool and equipment issues.
- Report/discuss with supervisor individual GM staff performance /Timekeeping/skills/attitude/aptitude. (in regards to annual reviews and ongoing throughout the year.)
- Assist supervisor in any new initiatives (set up of work stations, relocation of stock / shelving and fixture’s)
- Attend supervisory and health and safety training.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 10 Years of assembly experience with all Sumitomo products.

Duties are performed in an industrial environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; twist; bend; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is frequently required to lift, carry, move, push, and/or pull items up to 50 pounds. The employees must have the ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
