The Opportunity
We're looking for an inspiring Science Educator to join our North York team. Whether you're an Ontario Certified Teacher, a recent Teacher Candidate, or a science professional seeking stable, flexible work, this role offers the perfect balance of autonomy and support within a premium academic setting.
What You'll Do
- Teach Across the Science Spectrum: Deliver engaging lessons spanning foundational general science for younger learners through to advanced high school Biology and Chemistry, including cell biology, organic chemistry, genetics, and ecosystems
- Small-Group Mastery: Work with small cohorts or individual students, allowing you to provide personalized attention and real-time feedback
- Build Scientific Curiosity: Help learners develop a growth mindset around inquiry-based learning and foster genuine enthusiasm for the life and physical sciences
- Integrate Technology: Leverage our modern classroom platform to enhance in-person instruction and create dynamic learning experiences
- Support Student Success: Use structured assessment guidelines to provide meaningful feedback that drives continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- Subject Matter Expertise: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Science Education, or a related STEM field; Master's degree preferred
- Proven Teaching Track Record: Solid experience teaching or tutoring science at various levels; comfort working with Grade 3 through Grade 12 students
- Curriculum Proficiency: Strong knowledge of the Ontario Science Curriculum, including Biology (SBI3U/SBI4U) and Chemistry (SCH3U/SCH4U) at the secondary level, as well as general science standards at the elementary level (we'll assess your depth during the interview)
- Digital Comfort: Capable of using tech tools to complement in-person learning
- Reliable Availability: Committed to maintaining a consistent schedule of at least 4 hours per week
