Site Helper (General Labourer)
About the Team
At Forte Projects, we don’t just build; we deliver excellence. We are a construction management team dedicated to high-performance new builds and major renovations. We’re looking for a Site Helper who takes as much pride in the "behind-the-scenes" work as we do in the finished product.
Our Core Values: C.A.R.E.
C – Craft with Pride: We take immense personal ownership of our output. We sweat the details and focus on flawless execution because we stand behind our craftsmanship. Our final presentation and delivery are our signature—always sharp, professional, and unmatched.
A – Act with Kindness & Integrity: We lead with our moral compass. For us, doing the right thing means treating people with genuine kindness, communicating with radical honesty, and building long-term trust through transparent actions—even when no one is watching.
R – Relentless Growth: We refuse to stand still. We are obsessed with improving our skills, learning from setbacks, and approaching every challenge with a fierce growth mindset. We push our collective boundaries and lift each other up so that our team and our clients succeed together.
E – Exceed Expectations: "Good enough" isn't in our vocabulary. We look for hidden opportunities to add massive value, proactively anticipate client needs, and consistently go above and beyond the brief to delight those we serve.
The Digital Advantage: JobTread
We utilize JobTread, a leading construction management platform, to keep our projects on track and our team connected. As a Site Helper, you won't just be using a hammer—you'll be using your smartphone to manage your day. This ensures everyone is on the same page and projects stay on schedule.
Your Digital Responsibilities:
- Daily Logging: Use the JobTread app to log daily progress, upload site photos, and document any hurdles or wins.
- Task Management: Check your "To-Do" lists and project schedules daily to understand the day's priorities and planning for the upcoming tasks.
- Time Tracking: Accurately clock in/out and track your hours directly through the platform to ensure precise job costing and payroll.
Detailed Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Proactive Protection: You’ll be trained on and expected to consistently use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, high-vis vests, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- The "Safety First" Mindset: We follow all local safety regulations and site-specific protocols. You’ll be encouraged to speak up if you see something that doesn’t look right—your voice matters here.
- Physical Longevity: We’ll show you the right way to lift and move materials to prevent injury. We focus on "working smart" so you don’t wear out your body.
- Equipment Mastery: Before you use a new power tool or piece of machinery, we’ll make sure you’re trained and comfortable with how to operate it safely.
- Clean Site, Safe Site: A large part of our safety strategy is organization. By keeping the job site tidy and managing waste through JobTread tasks, we eliminate trip hazards and create a better environment for everyone.
Site Preparation & Demolition
- Lead Demolition: Lead site demolition and ensure protection is installed to safeguard the home.
- Deconstruction: Carefully remove cabinets and pull up various types of flooring (laminate, glued-down, etc.).
- Utility Safety: Manage basic site safety by performing water shut-offs and breaker turn-offs as required.
Technical & Trade Support
- Trade Assistance: Act as a right-hand to skilled tradespeople, including carpenters and electricians.
- General Construction: Perform hands-on tasks such as installing backing, drywall patching, painting, and caulking.
- Plan Following: Accurately execute tasks by following blueprints, sketches, and digital instructions in JobTread.
Logistics & Stewardship
- Material Management: Handle deliveries and drive the company vehicle for errands and waste disposal.
- The "Forte" Standard: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site. Ensure all tools are cleaned and stored properly at the end of the day.
- Safety Adherence: Rigorously follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times.
What You AREN'T Expected to Do
We believe in setting our team up for success, not stress. As a Site Helper, there are certain things we will never ask you to do:
- Work Without Guidance: You will never be left to figure out a complex or dangerous task on your own. You’ll always have a lead or the Operations Leader to guide you.
- Perform Licensed Trade Work: While you’ll assist electricians and plumbers, you won’t be expected to do specialized wiring, pipe fitting, or structural engineering yourself.
- Safety Shortcuts: We never expect (or allow) you to bypass safety protocols to save time. If a task feels unsafe, we want you to stop and tell us.
- Manage the Budget: You’re responsible for the work and the site, but you aren’t expected to handle project finances, client billing, or contract negotiations.
- Supply Your Own Heavy Equipment: While having your own basic hand tools is a plus over time, we provide the specialized power tools, machinery, and company vehicles needed for the job.
- Read Minds: If the instructions in JobTread aren't clear, we don't expect you to guess. We value questions and open communication over "assuming" and making mistakes.
- Work in Isolation: You are part of a team. You won't be expected to manage an entire job site by yourself or make high-level project decisions solo.
Why This Matters
We want you to focus on learning the fundamentals and mastering the "Forte Way." By taking the pressure off these high-level responsibilities, you have the space to grow, ask questions, and become an expert in your role at your own pace.
Who You Are - No Experience? No Problem!
We believe that skills can be taught, but work ethic and a good heart can’t. If you are looking to break into the construction industry, we want to provide the ladder.
- A Good Human: You are kind, respectful, and show up with a positive attitude every day.
- Eager to Learn: You have a "Growth Mindset" and aren't afraid to ask questions or try new things.
- Reliable: You’re someone the team can count on to show up on time and give it your all.
- Hands-On: You enjoy physical work and don't mind getting your hands dirty to get the job done.
- The Essentials: You have a valid Driver’s License and a way to get to our job sites.
