Full job description

Overview

The Production Cook plays a key role in executing large-batch food production across catering, restaurant, wholesale, and retail divisions. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality products at scale, maintaining consistency across all offerings, and supporting efficient kitchen operations.

Working closely with the Executive Chef and leadership team, the Production Cook ensures all recipes, processes, and food safety standards are upheld while contributing to production planning, cost control, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Execution

Execute large-scale food production for catering, restaurant service, wholesale, and retail products.
Prepare, cook, and package menu items according to standardized recipes and specifications
Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation across all products
Assist with smoking, batch cooking, portioning, and final product preparation

Menu & Recipe Adherence

Follow and maintain all company recipes and production procedures
Support the development and refinement of standardized recipes and portioning
Contribute to menu development, seasonal features, and product innovation

Production Planning & Inventory

Assist in planning daily and weekly production schedules based on business demand
Accurately estimate quantities and manage prep lists for large-batch output
Support inventory management, stock rotation, and ordering as needed
Monitor food costs and minimize waste through efficient production practices

Food Safety & Kitchen Organization

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
Ensure full compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
Properly handle, store, and label all food products
Conduct routine checks to uphold health and safety standards

Quality Control

Perform regular taste tests and visual checks to maintain product standards
Identify inconsistencies and take corrective action when required
Maintain high standards for all outgoing products across all departments

Team Collaboration

Work closely with the Executive Chef, management team, and kitchen staff
Support and guide prep cooks and junior team members as needed
Communicate effectively to ensure smooth production flow and execution

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize processes
Stay current with culinary trends, techniques, and best practices
Contribute ideas to improve product offerings and production systems

Qualifications

Previous experience in a high-volume or production kitchen environment
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Availability to work evenings and weekends, especially during peak catering season
A culinary diploma or equivalent experience is considered an asset

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Based on experience
Production tip out from all three departments (Catering, Retail, Restaurant)

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
