Reporting to the Department Manager and the Director of Experiential and Community Engaged Learning within the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (SKHS), the Student Experience Coordinator supports the coordination and delivery of work-integrated learning experiences and program administration across SKHS initiatives, including the Revved Up exercise program. The incumbent coordinates placement logistics, student onboarding, scheduling, and work-term activities, and serves as a key liaison among students, faculty, and community partners. The role supports efficient program operations, fosters high-quality student experiences, and promotes inclusive practices, particularly for persons experiencing disability.
This position advises prospective students who are members of underrepresented communities on matters including admissions, program details, university life, student resources and support, and financial assistance. This position works with students in underrepresented communities to identify and locate resources to support academic needs. This position works collaboratively with faculty and staff to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, events, and services that encourage focused student enrollment and improve student experience. This position plans, develops, implements, and evaluates non-traditional learning activities including placements, community-based projects, 'mini-stream' offerings, exchanges, and other experiential learning opportunities.
What you will do
- Advises prospective students who are members of underrepresented communities on matters including admissions, program details, university life, student resources and support, and financial assistance.
- Works with students in underrepresented communities to identify and locate resources to support academic needs.
- Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, events, and services that encourage focused student enrollment and improve student experience.
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates non-traditional learning activities including placements, community-based projects, ‘mini-stream’ offerings, exchanges, and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Participates in secondary school recruitment activities, represents the university at special events, and delivers online recruitment programming.
- Gathers information on student experience, prepares reports and recommendations, and identifies new and/or enhancements to programming.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
- Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
o in a health discipline is preferred.
Required Experience
- More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
o Experience delivering career coaching considered an asset.
o Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
o Experience planning, coordinating and/or managing events or promotions considered an asset.
o Familiarity with experiential learning theory considered an asset.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
