Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of Payroll is currently seeking a Full-Time Payroll Specialist. The purpose of the position is to provide administration of payroll processes, various complex reporting requirements generated through our in house payroll software, and provides expertise in reviewing and reporting of all aspects of the payroll functions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for over 1400 employees by reviewing and ensuring accuracy of approved schedules

Research and resolve coding and payroll discrepancies as applicable through various manual and prepared reports

Complete source remittances, third-party payroll remittances and reconciling deductions with third-party statements
- Complete all reporting requirements for affiliated unions including monthly / annual financials

Managing and completing the payroll requirements for new hires, terminations & transfers

Prepare ROE’s as required

Management of payroll requirements for LOA’s including Maternity Top Up, Pension Buy Backs

Prepare and submit payables generated from the payroll

Assisting the Payroll Manager with annual reporting – T4’s, T4A’s

Complete all reporting requirements for 2 pension plans including monthly / annual financials

Works collaboratively with HR, reviewing HR entries which impact payroll on a planned timeline to maintain data integrity

Research and respond to inquiries from the CRA, Service Canada, WSIB, EHT as needed

Working closely with Financial Services staff, Human Resources, Staff Scheduling, software provider, and other departments to maintain quality customer service

Researches and responds to payroll inquiries from all levels of the organization and often exercises judgment and initiative in resolving issues and bringing them to the attention of payroll
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

PCP certification or certification in progress and college diploma in a related field preferred

Recent and related experience in a similar position, preferably in a hospital setting

Demonstrated experience in accounting principles and processes; Public sector accounting standards

Strong experience with computer software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other software programs that draw financial and statistical information for reporting; experience with QHR an asset
