If so, our SLH High Voltage Department is looking for YOU to join us as our new Land Surveyor.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Land Surveyor to lead our field and office surveying operations. In this role, you will be responsible for executing precise boundary, topographic, and construction surveys for our critical electrical infrastructure projects, along with processing geospatial data, creating as-builts, and ensuring all works strictly comply with legal regulations and engineering standards.
As a Land Surveyor, you will bring your field experience, technical expertise with modern surveying instruments, and strong leadership skills to guide project teams and seamlessly collaborate with engineers, architects, and clients to drive efficiency in our project workflows.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Survey Execution: Lead and execute precise boundary, topographic, and construction surveys specifically tailored for essential electrical utility installations, including but not limited to duct banks, vaults, and pull pits.
- Data Processing & As-Builts: Accurately process complex geospatial data, manage field notes, and build comprehensive as-built drawings to reflect exact site conditions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all field operations, boundary assessments, and structural survey layouts strictly comply with relevant legal regulations, safety policies, and engineering standards.
- Collaborative Layouts: Coordinate and collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, design engineers, architects, and external clients to clarify technical design specifications and resolve site layout discrepancies.
- Equipment & Asset Management: Operate, calibrate, and care for advanced surveying equipment, ensuring precision across field collections and technical documentation.
- Additional Duties as Assigned: Be flexible and willing to take on additional procurement, administrative, or project support tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the projects department.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Field Experience: Proven background and practical field experience executing construction or utility surveys, giving you the strong knowledge foundation needed to lead our layout operations
- Software & Systems Expertise: Proficiency in utilizing standard engineering and drafting software, with specific knowledge and capability in AutoCAD and BIM platforms.
- Instrument & Hardware Mastery: Technical expertise with modern surveying instruments and benchmark devices, including but not limited to GeoMeasure Lux Laser RTK, Nano 7 RTK GNSS receiver, and Archer4 devices.
- Communication & Leadership: Strong leadership and communication skills, enabling clear, professional interaction when guiding project teams and collaborating with multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
- Adaptability & Mobility: Willingness to adapt to project dynamics and travel to project sites. Initially based at our OMSF project in East York, with flexibility required to travel to additional sites throughout the GTA.
Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 Annually, based on experience and skills.
