Key Assets Newfoundland and Labrador (KANL) provides Family-Based and Alternate Care along with a wide variety of programming and other services to support children, youth, and their families. Working in partnership with statutory bodies, KANL strives to develop creative and innovative programs for the provision of unique and supportive services, tailored to meet the needs of children, youth, and their families, and designed to work towards improving outcomes. KANL is currently recruiting in St. John's, NL for the position of:

(Part Time Positions Available)

We are looking for innovative and creative Child and Youth Care Workers to provide care, supervision, and support to young people with complex needs and their families. The work is varied and will include relationship building, planning, and participating in social and recreational activities including land-based activities, teaching life skills, providing educational supports, and developing and implementing individualized intervention plans.

The successful applicant(s) must be confident, energetic, adaptable, patient, self- aware, physically active, and able to safely intervene in crisis situations. It is important to note that shift work, including weekends, is required. Short-term travel throughout the province may also be required.

· A minimum of 2-years’ experience in a non-parental role providing support, mentorship, coaching, teaching, or guidance to young people with challenging behaviors or an equivalent combination of education and work or volunteer experience in a related field.

· Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with children and their families with an ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team.

· Understanding of family functioning and group dynamics, trauma-informed practices, behavior management techniques, and excellent communication skills

· A valid Driver’s License and clear drivers abstract.

· Willingness to obtain crisis intervention training certifications (TCI, ASIST, and UMAB training will be provided to successful applicants by Key Assets NL).

· Current, or willingness to complete, Standard First Aid/CPR certification.

The following qualifications, while not a requirement, will be considered assets in the applicant selection process:

· A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care or a related discipline.

· Daily access to a personal vehicle and $2 Million Business Liability insurance (or willingness to obtain).

· Experience as a foster parent

· Competitive salary, commensurate with education and experience (starting hourly rate of pay at $22.07 for part time)

· Competitive RRSP contribution matching up to 5% of contribution

· Sick leave entitlement of 7 days per year

· Vacation Leave entitlement of 15 days per year (3 weeks)
