Your Contribution:

Your main responsibilities

Sampling and testing of field samples of soils, granular, asphalt and concrete;
Compaction testing of soils, granular and asphalt;
Providing inspections for engineered fill, subgrades, granular, proof-rolling, asphalt, footings, excavations, roofing, fireproofing and/or reinforcement;
Setting up, performing tests and logging results in the ﬁeld;
Preparing factual reports, summaries, data sheets or graphs for interpretation of test results by the supervisor;
Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans while completing ﬁeld, laboratory and oﬃce work;
Generating and assisting with preparation of deliverable documentation such as technical reports, summaries, data sheets, graphs, proposals and qualiﬁcation packages;
Mentoring and training of junior staff;
Handling diﬃcult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts;
Maintaining records of health and safety information, calibration certiﬁcates, equipment manuals and applicable standards;
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability;
Making recommendations to control or eliminate unsafe conditions in the workplace;
Traveling out of town for an extended period of time to remote areas to fulﬁll ﬁeld work responsibilities;
Operate and maintain lab and field testing equipment, ensuring calibration and cleanliness;
Communicate with site supervisors, engineers, and contractors to coordinate testing schedules and ensure quality control.

Your Profile:

What makes you unique

Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline; CET or P.Tech designation or eligibility is considered a strong asset;
CCIL and CSA certifications;
8 plus years’ experience;
Ability to handle samples up to 25kg of materials regularly;
Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document and report test results;
Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong time management and organizational skills;
Ability to travel between worksites for extended periods of time as required;
A valid “G” Driver’s license is required;
Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety.
