NS Modular is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Cost Controller, whose primary responsibilities are managing project budgets, tracking costs, and analyzing variances to control spending and forecasting financial outcomes. This role will work closely with management and project managers to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements. What You’ll Be Doing
- Cost Planning & Budgeting
- Develop and maintain project budgets and cost estimates
- Establish cost control procedures and reporting structures
- Cost Monitoring & Analysis
- Track actual expenditures against approved budgets
- Analyze cost variances and identify potential overruns
- Monitor commitments, purchase orders, contracts, and invoices
- Maintain cost breakdown structures (CBS) and work breakdown structures (WBS)
- Forecasting
- Prepare monthly cost forecasts and estimate-at-completion (EAC) reports
- Identify financial risks and opportunities
- Support cash flow forecasting and financial planning
- Reporting
- Generate weekly and monthly cost reports for management
- Present cost performance indicators and trends
- Prepare dashboards and project financial summaries
- Project Support
- Work closely with project managers to ensure financial objectives are achieved
- Support change management and assess cost impacts of scope changes
- Review contractor claims and variations
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies and procedures
- Support internal and external audits
- Maintain accurate cost records and documentation
What You Bring to the Table
- Entry-Level Cost Controller
- 1-3 years of work experience in cost analysis, accounting, project controls, and financial reporting
- Previous experience working with spreadsheets and reporting software
- Strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting principles
- Intermediate Cost Controller
- 3-7 years of work experience in the following environments:
- Oil and gas projects
- Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)
- Capital project cost tracking
- Earned value management
- Forecasting and variance analysis
- Senior Cost Controller
- Minimum seven (7) years of work experience, often including:
- Major upstream, midstream, or downstream projects
- Managing multi-million dollar project budgets
- Leading cost control teams
- Working directly with project managers and executives
- Advanced financial modeling and forecasting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
- Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, forklift, fall protection, etc.)
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
