Design with Purpose. Build with Impact.
At Clearline Technologies, we don’t just manufacture products, we transform recycled materials into high-performance solutions used around the world. Our work sits at the intersection of engineering innovation and environmental responsibility, and we’re looking for a Mechanical Designer who wants to be part of something meaningful.
If you enjoy solving complex mechanical challenges, working hands-on in a manufacturing environment, and seeing your designs come to life on the production floor, this role will keep you engaged and growing.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Designer, you’ll play a critical role in designing and optimizing molds, tooling, and equipment for rubber compression molding processes. This is not a purely desk-based design role, you’ll be actively involved in troubleshooting, prototyping, and continuous improvement initiatives across our operations.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to drive efficiency, reliability, and product performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
o Design and develop molds, tooling, machinery, and mechanical assemblies for rubber-based products
o Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks
o Troubleshoot mechanical issues involving molds, hydraulic presses, and automated systems
o Partner with production and engineering teams to enhance manufacturability and efficiency
o Analyze and improve existing equipment for performance, durability, and cost optimization
o Support prototype development, testing, and iterative design improvements
o Ensure designs meet engineering standards, tolerances, and safety requirements
o Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the plant
o Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams
What You Bring
o 5–10 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
o Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings)
o Solid understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
o Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve real-world industrial challenges
o Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
o A collaborative mindset with clear communication skills
o Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (CET) or related field is an asset
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
o Experience with rubber compression molding and tooling design
o Exposure to automation systems (PLCs, sensors, conveyors, etc.)
o Familiarity with material properties (rubber, plastics, resins)
o Experience with testing and validation (tensile, compression, stress analysis)
o Background in continuous improvement or process optimization
Clearline Technologies is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
