BASIC PURPOSE
- To ensure all assigned welding or mechanical related tasks are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner with a high level of quality, using safe work practices.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIES
- Utilizes safe work practices and promote safety policies to others. Must maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Responsible for safe and conscientious use of equipment including forklift, shear, ironworker.
- Experienced in material take offs.
- Can read and understand blueprints and implement their directions.
- Consistently provides high quality welds and work.
- Experienced in safe methods of hoisting and rigging.
- Able to teach and grow less experienced workers and apprentices.
- Owns basic trade tools and takes care of company supplied tools.
- Able to work occasional overtime during the week and weekends if necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all business interactions and strives to meet customer needs in a creative and safe manner.
- Excellent communication skills, good attitude and willing to learn.
- Appropriate level of experience as welder or industrial mechanic.
- Journeyman status is required.
- Possesses current first aid certificate.
- Valid driver’s license is a requirement.
- Understands welding principles and applies them.
- CWB certificate – Flat metalcore required minimum.
- Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and maintenance of oxy-acetylene.
