Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is accepting resumes for an EXPERIENCED Maintenance & Supply Chain Coordinator for a safety-sensitive position working 10-Hour days Monday through Friday at our Red Deer location that is motivated, committed and wants to grow with us.
Maintenance & Supply Chain Coordinators play a critical role in bridging the gap between equipment reliability and logistical operations. They are responsible for a wide range of activities that support the maintenance, availability, and performance of company equipment.
Key responsibilities include coordinating preventative maintenance programs, liaising with service providers and the Maintenance Team, ensuring the timely availability of parts and materials, managing procurement activities, maintaining inventory levels, fostering supplier relationships, conducting regular inspections of supplies and equipment, and implementing strategies to minimize equipment downtime.

The Job
The Maintenance & Supply Chain Coordinator will be required to work 10 hour days, Monday through Friday.
As a Maintenance & Supply Chain Coordinator, you will be expected to:
- Review the upcoming week's maintenance schedule with the Supervisor and identify resource requirements.
- Lead and facilitate daily maintenance meetings to communicate priorities, equipment status, and ongoing work.
- Track and document all equipment movements to and from the yard.
- Collaborate with the Planning & Scheduling team to ensure accurate and complete equipment work histories are maintained.
- Verify that all maintenance-related documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Develop, organize, and manage maintenance work packages.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities performed by external vendors and service providers.
- Source, order, and manage parts and materials required for maintenance and break-in work.
- Maintain and update equipment status reports, including up/down lists and job progress tracking.
- Partner with supervisor to optimize shop workflow, equipment availability, and maintenance priorities.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement activities to support operational requirements.
- Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support initiatives focused on equipment reliability, cost control, and continuous improvement.
What We Need From YOU:
- A desire to make a meaningful impact and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, planning, supply chain, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of major heavy equipment brands and models, including CAT, John Deere, Hitachi, and Komatsu dozers, haul trucks, shovels, and excavators.
- Previous construction and/or mining industry experience is considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer-based maintenance and inventory management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and a strong safety culture.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence, coordinate, and guide others; previous leadership experience is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, inventory management, procurement, and supply chain operations.
- Ability to anticipate operational requirements and proactively source parts, materials, and services.
- Experience maintaining accurate records, documentation, and reporting systems.
- Proven ability to analyze information and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance equipment reliability.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative approach to working with operations, maintenance teams, and external partners.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
As part of our Hiring Process, YOU will be asked to:
- Provide a minimum of a Class 5 Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract
- Provide a criminal record check
