Ball Service Group Inc. is a Custom Metal Fabricator with an immediate need for a Fitter/Welder for our day shift operations.
Some of the products BSG manufactures are material handling carts, equipment weldments, machine assemblies, stairs, railings, platforms and conveyor systems.
Candidates with 3 to 5 years’ experience within a competitive and challenging Custom Metal Fabrication environment is preferred.

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Read and interpret engineered and drafted drawings
- Select and prepare material in the proper sequence in order to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Construct patterns and templates as guides for layouts
- Layout and fit material according to specifications, ensuring all tolerances are met
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
- Rig, hoist and move materials to workstation, trucks, or storage area
- Set up and operate various metal fabricating machines such as drills, grinders, saw, cutting torches and ironworker
- Assemble and fit metal sections by means of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) or Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW)
- Perform safety inspection of equipment and accessories
- Make minor external repairs to equipment and accessories
- Practice good housekeeping methods by keeping work area clean and clear of obstruction
- Complete work documentation including pre-inspection procedures, quality control check lists and labour sheets to ensure data is recorded accurately in accordance with company standards
- Ensure strict adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments
- Must work in accordance with Company rules, policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of Secondary School
- 3 to 5 years related work experience in custom metal fabrication
- Demonstrate competencies required in order to obtain the Gas Metal Arc Welding and Flux Core Arc Welding according to the CWB Standard W47.1 Division 2
- Proficient blueprint reading of engineered or drafted drawings
- Proficient with the use and interpretation of CWB weld symbols
- Proficient with Metric and Imperial measurement systems
- Proficient with the use of fabrication machinery and tools
- Proficient layout skills using material according to specifications
- Demonstrative decision and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with the use, handling and storage of welding equipment and supplies
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills in order to complete work assignments
- Must work in accordance with Company rules, policies and procedures
- Ability to work with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times
- Strong work ethic
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CWB Certification in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW)
- Certified Forklift and Crane Operator
- WHMIS
