Hickory Dickory Decks KW is currently seeking a Helical Pile Installer / Junior Equipment Operator to fill a vacant position within our growing carpentry and construction teams.
This role is responsible for installing helical pile foundations for residential deck projects while supporting excavation, site preparation, equipment operation, and general construction activities. The successful candidate will operate mini excavators, trucks, trailers, and other equipment to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.
This is a hands-on outdoor position offering the opportunity to develop equipment operating skills and grow within the residential construction industry.
What You'll Do
- Install helical pile foundations for residential deck projects
- Read and interpret site layouts, construction drawings, and utility locates
- Operate mini excavators, skid steers, trucks, trailers, and related equipment
- General labouring tasks including site clean up, carrying materials and assisting carpentry crews where required.
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation activities
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment
- Complete equipment inspections and project documentation
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional job site
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members
- Support additional construction activities as required
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in construction, landscape construction, excavation, or a related field preferred
- Experience operating mini excavators, skid steers, or similar equipment is considered an asset
- Helical pile installation experience is an asset; training may be provided to the right candidate
- Ability to read and follow construction drawings and layouts
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and safely in a fast-paced outdoor environment
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing manual labour
- Valid G Class Driver's Licence with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to and from our Petersburg location
