Position Summary
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented UI/UX Design Intern to help improve the design, usability, and overall user experience of an in-house built mobile application and website. This role is ideal for a student or early-career designer interested in real-world product design, operations technology, mobile workflows, and small-business innovation. The intern will help design user-friendly screens, improve customer and staff-facing workflows, create wireframes and prototypes, and support the visual design of the project website and product materials. The work will directly contribute to making the system easier to understand, easier to use, and more appealing to future business users.
Key Responsibilities
The UI/UX Design Intern may assist with:
- Reviewing the current app and website (under development) for usability, layout, navigation, and visual clarity
- Designing wireframes, mockups, and user flows for mobile and web interfaces
- Improving UI workflows related to asset tracking, bookings, check-in/check-out, RFID/NFC scans, inventory views, and reporting dashboards
- Creating a clean, consistent visual style for the brand across application, website pages, and presentation materials
- Helping simplify complex operational workflows into intuitive user experiences
- Creating prototypes in tools such as Figma or Penpot
- Supporting user testing with staff and incorporating feedback into design revisions
- Provide design guidance and support to software developers during implementation
- Maintain an in-house UI component library (including buttons, drop-downs, icons, etc.) and promote user-centred design standards across the product lines
- Helping ensure the app and website are easy to use on mobile devices, tablets, and desktop screens
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is creative, organized, curious, and interested in how technology can solve real business problems. They do not need to be an expert developer, but they should be comfortable thinking through how people interact with apps, websites, and digital tools.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Currently studying or recently completed coursework in UI/UX design, graphic design, web design, digital media, product design, computer science, marketing, or a related field
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Canva, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Suite, Webflow, WordPress, or similar platforms
- Proficiency in Material Design 3 or similar toolkits, basic to intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Ability to make simple website layout, styling, spacing, colour, font, and responsive design changes using HTML/CSS
- Understanding of mobile-friendly and responsive design principles
- Ability to create wireframes, mockups, user flows, and intractable design prototypes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make information visually clear and easy to use
- Interest in startups, small business technology, tourism, outdoor recreation, logistics, or asset tracking
- Strong communication skills and willingness to receive feedback. Knowledge of JavaScript, WordPress themes, app design, or front-end frameworks would be an asset, but is not required.

Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement
The successful applicant will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement before beginning work. This agreement is intended to protect confidential business information, proprietary systems, customer data, and any project materials shared during the course of employment.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
